Reply to "Vintage New Haven GE EP3 by Silvermine 1936"

Hello all a bit of work done on the Silvermine EP-3



1931 GE delivers to the New Haven Railroad the EP-3 electric designed to pull trains from Grand Central NYC to New Haven ...handing off train to steam continuing on to Boston . PRR used the EP-3 as a base on which to design the GG1.

This O scale EP-3 was made by Silvermine Associates 1935 offered in kit or RTR at $135.00.
Bronze castings , double motor Alexander type trucks with 6 wheel
drive each. Running on outside 3rd rail. The EP-3 more commonly found was made by Parmlee & Sturges beginning in 1938.
Osgood Bradley 80' coaches made famous by Gilbert / American Flyer ..were first used on the New Haven in 1935 ...light weight construction offered no thrills but reliable people movers for commuter service .
1937 Alexander ( American Model Railroad Company) offered a cast aluminum Osgood Bradley coach ...offered postwar by Baldwin .
