I could never understand why so much emphasis is applied to 3r couplers and pilots. When several trains are operating around a layout, no one focuses on that stuff anyway. It’s a lot of time, effort and money for nothing.
We three railers still have a center rail so what’s the point of converting anything?
SIRT - You are a much better modeler than I, but I have to strongly disagree with what your asserting.
This Atlas F3 coming down the track with it's 3 rail coupler is obscene. I thought that before I started converting to Kadees.
This engine with a fixed pilot and Kadee looks so much better.
There are reasons for not converting to a more scale coupler, but the idea that no one focuses attention on the coupler is not one of them. IMHO
Some day these might even get weathered.
