I'm starting to work on the mountain ridges near Spruce Creek PA and the Spruce Creek Tunnel. This has required me to work on the part of the layout across the aisleway from Altoona and sometimes get up on a step ladder which has resulted in some new and interesting views of the layout. see for yourself...
First, downtown Altoona with the diesel servicing facility in the foreground:
And here are two aerial shots of the same area so you can see how the track is laid out. Mainline is to the right, the throat to the roundhouse and steam engine coaling/sanding facility is to the left, and the caboose and MOW equipment storage tracks are in the center:
and one final shot taken to the left showing the front of the roundhouse, the turntable, and a few engine storage tracks. The recently completed Spruce Creek stone arch bridge is in the foreground. Work is underway out of sight behind me:
