Reply to "Weekend Photo Fun 3-12-21-??"

The shade of red on the LIONEL Santa Fe P=S single-door 60' box cars does match the Santa Fe P-S double-door 60' box car.

I can take a photo of it tomorrow.

The Santa Fe beer car looks like a car that was painted in the 1970's and the red faded for 25 years, making it more appropriate for 1995-2000 era freight trains.

Andrew,

Thanks. I'd overlooked that these are single-door unlike the double car Santa Fe car from about ten years ago.

Myself, I can't accept the "beer" cars' color as fading. The 70s era Santa Fe "Indian Red" always seemed to weather to a dark, almost brown, shade, rather than fade to a lighter color. Some of the mineral box car red repaints seemed to fade, but to something akin to a red primer color. The almost orange color on the beer cars just doesn't look to me like any aged paint I've ever seen on Santa Fe's box cars. Maybe Lionel will get it right next time.
