Here's a few shots of two hoppers I just weathered. The first is a toy-like Lionel O-27 hopper which had great graphics simulating an old PRR H-21 hopper converted to an icebreaker car. For some reason, Lionel painted it in boxcar red rather than black, but otherwise, the graphics are identical to the prototype. It was used to break out icicles in the Gallitzin Tunnels west of Horseshoe Curve. Even though undersized and toy like, it was a good car to stick on one of the short tracks around my newly completed turntable, so I weathered up the 15 year old car for display on that part of the layout. While I was at it, I also weathered this Weaver Lackawanna cement hopper weathered using acrylic paints and chalks:
