Somewhere I have a full box of the #601 full straights.  When I bought them it was the first time that I knew what their number was.  I wish they had produced a crossover too.

I hope this is not a stupid question, but do you really need a full loop? In other words, can't you just add a few pieces in a few different spots on the layout where you need the 4th rail to activate features like the whistle? You can power the forth rail in those spots independently. Maybe the rail would need a little ramp to not catch the activation shoe.
