Reply to "Were regular trainmen issued sidearms as standard equipment by the Railroads in the early days?"

A friend of mine bought a 12 Gauge shotgun at a railroad show in Maryland marked C&O on the stock. It was issued by the railroad during World War 2 to a bridge tender to guard against saboteurs.
