I agree, but the direct question posed by the OP was whether he "needed" the SER-2 in order to operate Legacy/TMCC engines through the DCS system. The response I gave was "NO" and that is accurate.

The OP also stated that he "understood" that he "can not control all the LEGACY functions using the MTH DCS remote (thanks for that advice @gunrunnerjohn) so that's why I'm guessing I have to purchase the Lionel SER2."

I saw no need to repeat that information, but I respect the rights of others to chime in and offer additional, alternative or advanced suggestions.
