I've got to push you for the heron too. No contest for me, I got withing yards of a Great Blue this last summer while it fished a flood basin pond next to Wallmart (not these). It was also the biggest, bluest one I have seen about 4'-4.5'/head up. Watch directly and you'll never get close, just point the camera if you want to spook one Catching them in the right light the blue pops more... like a Russian Blue cat glowing bright blue in the right moonlight.
