I used cloud pattern wallpaper for my background. Two rolls of the cheap stuff covered it all!
I just went to the paint store and picked a shade that looked like a clear blue sky to me. Don't worry about the name found on the paint chip, every brand has different names anyway. It's really all about the pigment formula. Most if not all paint stores, have a color matching device. You could bring in a photo, and they could match to that for your own custom color.
