A more common acronym is DRCU (Digital Reverse Control Unit),  for what it's worth.

Tried hooking up the bridge rectifier.   The motor,  which had run at least briefly on a DC power pack,  simply hummed and let out Magic Smoke.

Examined the E-unit.   When wired to AC track power,  it works fine,  cycling from forward to reverse and producing the proper DC voltage.

So,  guess the Hogwarts  Express stays on the disabled list until  I can afford a replacement motor...

Mitch;

You any relation to Dr. Frankenstein (or is that pronounced “Fronkensteen”???).

If I remember correctly, I have an old Lionel GP-9 (possibly a 6-8477 - won’t be sure till I get back home). Any chance that would help your motor issue???

Sincerely;

Eye-gor
