Here are a few pictures of the Jig I have been working on!20190131_07415720190131_074923

Mike, why the clear plastic?   I made a simple jig to help locate the mounting screw positions using the template that comes with the Tortoise machines.   Once you locate the position of the track switch and have drilled the hole for the spring wire (BTW, I used a heavier gauge spring wire, the one from Tortoise is better suited for HO switches), I inserted the pencil stub up through the hole and hammer tap the finish nails to mark the location for the mounting screws.   I also drilled pilot holes using an appropriate sized bit.   Putting the two side screws in place made it easy to position the Tortoise machine and spring wire (the two screws held it in place).   It was then easy to add the other two side screws to securing the switch machine.   I assume you have full access for under mounting these switch machines.

You will be happy with the Tortoise switch machines.  In my opinion, they provide the best action and have the advantage of controlling track power as well as signal lights.

Good luck with your track and switch instillation.   We have been on the Gulf Coast for a couple of weeks - needed a respite from the snow and cold.   Back home now and trying to get caught up will all the progress and posts.

Cheers, Dave
