Did I do work on the layout?  That depends on your point of view.

I put YLB Batteries in 27 of my steam engines to allow the engines to pass over my Atlas O switches without the sound shutting off momentarily. The batteries made by Gunrunner John come in two ways.  YLB #10500 has the 9-Volt battery clip on the end. It clips to the battery clip in the engine. YLB #10510 has a plug that goes into the sound board socket. Both connect to the center roller power to quick charge the battery. The battery then provides power to the sound board as it passes over gaps in the center rail.

It has made running my Lionel steam engines an enjoyable experience.

Please note that the front end cow catcher and front scale coupler are missing from the Southern Pacific AC-12. They did not return on this engine that was serviced by Lionel two plus years ago. (I have been the only family member caretaker for my 92-year-old mother since her two hospital stays and transfusions), and did not open the repaired engine until this weekend when I put the YLB Battery in the engine. Do not trust Lionel Service to do things correctly. Immediately check everything.  This why some of my engines have gone back three times, and I have been refunded on two Warranty engines that could not be fixed.  I am reluctant to send my new Western Allegheny H-10 that just lost its Cab Light back for Lionel Warranty Service. This is not a complaint, but a statement of Fact.  Have a good week.

Sincerely, John Rowlen
