I've been looking at 3 rail track so long, that when I go over a grade crossing, I think it looks unrealistic....

Peter, it is ironically funny that you would actually say that. Have never admitted it but have had the same reaction going over a grade crossing and/or looking down on to rails from a bridge. Many times the ties have a stain pretty much running down the middle which makes it look/feel more comforting.
