Thanks gunrunnerjohn, and also for the suggestion to splice rather than try to rebuild the connectors.
I’m going to hold off on the repair and call Lionel again on Monday as it is frustrating to have to revert to a version of this part that is more likely to fail than the one in my loco which failed immediately (I presume.)
