Michael, Only you can decide the 'best consist'. What may look good to you and be half way realistic could be a train made up of cars which you purchased individually. As mentioned, most of the four and five car sets are fantasy. Not knowing the size of your curves or the lengths of your straights, kindly permit me to suggest a generic combination which at one time or another possibly ran on NYC tracks. One REA express car or a mail storage car(or both), an RPO with the soft end forward, one or two heavyweight baggage cars, two or three coaches, a dining car, two to five sleeping cars and an observation car.
