The MTH locos are semi-scale. They have good contours but are very short. The Williams are scale models, but the detail is lacking and contours are not quite right. I have some of the MTH, both Premier and the semi-scale models and they are all very nice. You can get parts for them. I have one Williams F7B only and it is okay. I didn't get the A's because I don't like the way they look. If you don't care if they are scale size or not, then I would choose the MTH.
