Reply to "Who has made Lackawanna E or F series diesels?"

Portholes or lack thereof vary according to the age of the unit. All E8s originally had portholes, at least the ones purchased by the Erie and the Lackawanna. As the side panels deteriorated and were replaced, the portholes were removed. Less of a maintenance headache. This is why you see a wide variety of porthole configurations. With all the portholes removed, the paint scheme was changed to have a yellow accent stripe in the maroon broken by Erie Lackawanna in yellow. Generally, if portholes are present, they are outlined in yellow. The road name is in maroon in the gray area below the maroon stripe. There are at least 2 variations in the name's font that I know of.
