With the popularity of Lionel's Polar Express line in O and S gauges, I can't understand why no one has produced Christmas elf figures for those of us modeling P.E. and/or Holiday related scenes. Why no manufacturer has jumped at this opportunity is beyond me. Lionel markets caribou, wolves, rabbits and even Santa figures while MTH and Bachmann do reindeer and Santa figures even Hallmark, Dept. 56, Carlton Cards, etc. make elves, Santas, reindeer, etc., so why hasn't someone produced elves specifically for Oand S scales? The tooling can't be that difficult or expensive and btw, Lionel already has elves they've created their O and S gauge P.E. handcars as has Bachmann for its Santa/elf trolley handcar, so why not adapt those molds to standing elf figurines? Both Santa and elves are royalty free in the public domain, so why are generic Santas plentiful but his companion elves aren't? Why doesn't someone make them???
If those companies making elf figurines don't want to be bothered with O and S scale size ones, this might be a profitable niche for a company such as Menards to get into.
BTW, how many of you would buy elves, if they were available?
