Down here at Angels Gate Hi Railers in San Pedro, California, we have run them all. TMCC , when it first came out, followed by Legacy. Layout was then adapted for DCS control. We have all the remotes, CAB1 , Legacy Remote, CAB 1L, DCS Remotes. When Lionel LCS came out, we installed that as well as MTH DCS WIFI, currently running on only one of 5 TIU's.
By far, the ICAB app as well as the DCS WIFI have exhibited the best response by far over all the remotes. No more out of range, or can't find engine and no red lights on CAB2. Today at the club I ran only using the Lionel icab. When we run DCS on only one TIU it runs flawlessly.
In my opinion, once the DCS WIFI comes out, there will be no need to go back to any of the remotes. No more replacing thumb wheels, loose boards and no CAB2 red lights.
The only negative was that my battery drained very quickly after about 4 hours of running.
