I use single 14 ga. stranded THWN/THHN. 

I have Red, Black & Green. 

I can use it to make power connections with Red & Black

Or, control like for a Turn out with Red, Black & Green  

and I cut to length-add 5 feet-then twist it with a drill  

I buy in 500’ spools, because I hate to run out- because it always seems like I run out of EXACTLY what I need when I have the TIME or MOTIVATION to do what I want/need to do-and the stores are closed
