Yes, 3rd rail has offered these before but I wasn't as involved in the hobby during their latest offering.
- PRR MP54: an old K-line tooling that Lionel made years ago under the K-line by Lionel name. It would be nice to see these be produced again with some upgrades.
- PRR K4s with short haul tenders: the same ones they did in 2011. Prewar, also not a fan of the long haul tendered ones they have made in the last few years. Given it's been 10 years now, I could see them reissuing this in the not-so-distant future, if not this year.
- PRR M1s (anyone starting to notice a certain theme here??
): same as they have done in 2014. Like the K4's it's been a while since so I could see these on Lionel's "to-do list".
- I would also be interested in another run of the VL GG1's in a few years (similar to how they did a re-run of the 2-10-10-2's) as they are really nice but hard to find now in the 5 strip DGLE.
The PRR MP54 set from 1992 is actually a better source for tooling than the K-line tooling that is not at all close to an MP54. I have owned both K-line MP54ish offerings in 18" and 15".
While the old Lionel tooling lacks some details, when I compared it to my Custom Brass BM54, it scales out properly and has the correct proportions and the key details. I am planning on converting my old Lionel set to 2rail at some point as it really isn't that big of a project to make it into a decent scale model. New steps, A few added details, scale brass pantographs, scale couplers and pilot fabrications, interiors in lieu of window figure strips, and adding a DC motor, scale wheels, and maybe DCC. Granted it's 30 year old tooling and likely lost somewhere, but it's still good.
Which P5a are you are you looking for? Modified or box-cab? MTH did make both as has 3rd Rail. I have the box-cab in 3rd Rail and an MTH version of the modified. As much of a shill I am for 3rd Rail, my Overland P5a modified made by Ajin is better than all of them combined. If I ever get to going through my MTH one to make sure it still runs properly, I'll be selling it as I don't model PRR in 3 Rail anymore.
However, now that we are on a PRR theme, I'd like to see an accurate model of PRR D16sb 1223. That is the locomotive I rode behind when I was last on the Strasburg. It was a long time ago. In 2 rail of course.
