The supplied stepped shaft will not go far enough down into the gear to make contact with the armature. The roller pin is what makes contact. Order = Armature-Roll Pin-Puller Shaft

I will drill a hole in the supplied shaft that will accept the roller pin to make it a little more precise. For now, it works.
