I will be building it out an extra 12 inches or more in width. Knowing myself I will wind up adding a 5th-6-7-8 etc etc LOL I have lost my mind. Nick

Nick - I agree about it being nice to be able to pull trains out of a yard w/o having to move them by hand. FWIW, I started out with the attached SCARM plan and ended up with the yard built as shown, with 8 sidings. Of course, mine are shorter and the curves are O-36, but it gives you an idea of what it might look like. I also used a couple of O-72 Wyes as well as O-72 switches.

One thing you might want to consider is leaving some open space between the tracks for long, narrow accessories like coal ramps, saw mill, log loaders, etc.

I also added lighted bumpers at each end and put each track on a separate toggle switch.

RICHIE Your yard looks very functional. I have a yard existing with 8 tracks but they only hold about 5  or 6 cars each. It functions well but when I have people over it is just to time consuming to operate and carry a conversation at the same time. I will be posting pics of my progress. Thanks for the input guys. Nick
