Dependent on the volume and the length of the shutdown sounds, that may happen.  The primary purpose of the YLB is to maintain the sound over power interruptions to the locomotive and for conventional running during direction changes.

If you had the new Vision Line Challenger or Niagara, you might think differently.  The closely spaced pickup rollers cause the sound to drop out on many switches in command mode.  For conventional running, the benefits are obvious.
