Reply to "York Fall 2014 - Watching the Magic Happen!"

Excellent Steve Excellent !!!!!

Since I had never attended York on a Saturday before I had never been there when the meet ended. I too witnessed and enjoyed the closing ceremonies. The playing of Happy Trails was a nice touch. Since I was helping a friend at his table I participated in the pack up. No pack up prior to 2PM but if you are going to pack up prior to 2PM please leave a few items for sale on your table. No carts to be wheeled in the hall prior to 2PM but if you carry it in that's OK..........

Security iron clad throughout the meet no badge no entry badge must be visible dealers only in the halls prior to the official opening time. This is all done to prevent theft you understand. At 2PM on Saturday security vanishes, one guard told me at 2PM were outta here.........after 2PM.....well honor among thieves comes to mind. After 2PM anything goes I think you could drive a Sherman tank into the hall and no one would bat an eye. MTH had a small battery powered fork lift / pallet jack that was maneuvering around with military precision. I was truly amazed at how fast MTH got packed up and out. As for the rest rooms I heard several times....hey if I tear off a paper towel for you will you give me fifty cents? NO....OK if I push the hand dryer for you will you give me a quarter? NO!....wow this post 2PM  pee for free crowd is tough.

Unfortunately I did not get to see the sacred placing of the yellow arrows. After reading your description of this ritual I was disappointed. I figured that the whole thing was done in sacred robes with torch bearers and a blessing of some sort or a reading from the book of arrows prior to each stick. At the very least a GONG now place the arrow GONG....or something like that

All in all Saturday York was very enjoyable, and I got  a very nice deal in the blue hall on a prewar Lionel O scale passenger set and some extra coaches for it all in their original boxes.

It was a great pleasure to see you and the Mrs. again, I really enjoyed our conversation. As always never enough time to see and talk with everyone. I am already looking forward to April.

keep safe and God Bless

Sincerely
