I always like to see the F3s, Norm!!  Is there any coal to mine in Alaska, or does it all have to come in from the lower 48?

I don't see many members posting in this Video Clips section.  I don't know why that is.  Most folks set up a topic in say the O Gauge 3 Rail section and then just keep adding photographs or videos there.  You may get more people looking if you do that.  Just a suggestion.

Alaska has lots of coal, in fact, there is so much coal produced at the Usibelli Coal Mine near Healy, AK that what is not sold and used in state is exported by the train load! The Palmer spur of the Alaska Railroad used to go further northeast into the Sutton / Chickaloon area where there were numerous coal mines that provided coal, initially to the US Navy for their coal fired ships back in the early days of Alaska. A small railway out of Homer, AK called the Cook Inlet Railroad delivered coal from the area there to the waterfront for pickup.

Thanks for the suggestion on where to post. I just picked the most obvious place. Still feeling my way around this place.
