Wine trains in Ohio area, asking for a friend

Polar Express

Train Novice ·
Not sure this is the correct form. However, my wife and I would like to get in to the model train world. (Perhaps me more so than her.) I think the Polar express would be a great start. Our daughter loves the movie, and my wife wants to start collecting Christmas villages. As for me, it’s a train, need I say more? We really like what Michigan & Ohio Valley Lines has done and would like some advice as to how to move in that direction with the trains look and features. It definitely seems...

Yeah, Cuyahoga Valley is what she had said that they were looking around or into. I had said I wasn't exactly sure what all was out that way and believed that 765 ran in or on those lines. I would imagine that they should have something, but being out here in NJ I haven't looked out that way(yet).

Wow, that’s nice! My wife would love that setup. Are those trains the Legacy trains? I think those are the trains I’m looking for. They seem to have the detail I’m looking for. However, I get confused with the conductor on the side of the car and how you can see people on the inside of the passenger cars. Also, I think the chocolate car has people in it and the puppet car seems to have puppets in it.

Re: Polar Express

Jayhawk500 ·
They're not Legacy, They're LionChief. All of the cars are decorated with images of passengers in the cars. The newer cars will have color images in the windows. The Conductor car is an add-on car. This doesn't come in a set. The Hot Chocolate car is also an add-on. In the set all you get is 2 coach cars, an observation car and I think the Hobo car. There is also a baggage car, a dining car and a combination car. I think I have about 9 or 10 PE Baby Madison cars. Here's a link to give you an...

The video is of the scale PE. The Lionel Legacy line. The snow blown cars in the video was done by the owner known as weathering. The price you saw on eBay for the cars is the going price for scale Lionel cars.

Roundhouse Electric Trains is a fantastic stop on the east side of Louisville. They have used inventory for all scales, including O scale from prewar to Legacy/PS3. They have various scenery and railroadiana items available as well. They always had at least a couple dozen Legacy locomotives in shop. Hobby Station is another stop in Elizabethtown, KY. They have a ton of Atlas O rolling stock available, in addition to other general hobby shop fare.

Roundhouse Electric Trains on the East side of Louisville is a good shop. http://www.roundhouseky.com/ Johnny's Toys closed several years ago but the guy who ran the train department opened his own store, Tim's Trains and Hobbies, less than a mile away. The shop is mostly HO but has some O gauge stuff and is a good source for paint, glue, plastic, scenery stuff, etc. http://www.timstrainsandhobbies.com/

Davis Trains in its hay day was the best store in the Midwest. I loved it and was there every week.Joe Davis had a hell of a collection as well. I always the O gauge layout on Thanksgiving weekend when he had the open house. The store was huge with a 4 man repair group, Jim Barrett was one of them..When Joe died his son cleaned up, closed the store and sold everything. I also loved going to Johnny's Toys, nice train selection. I miss Cincinnati..

Welcome to the area. I echo Bob comments on Tim's a pretty good shop and they have been very nice when I went there. Entertrainment Junction near Westchester (Up 75) has a nice hobby shop(and a great indoor layout to visit), mostly G and HO but some good scenery stuff. https://entertrainmentjunction.com/ HobbytownUSA in Mason has a good supply of scenery items, and some O scale, but mostly HO and N. Good supply of paints and scratch building supplies.

The group of O Gaugers' ages range from (I think) about 21 to.... a lot older. From a finished layout, to some just "planning". Yes- we welcome new people. It is a very informal group- we just get together about once a month, have a breakfast together (discussing trains!), then go to see something related. No dues, no officers. So far- - we went to a Menards for some Christmas shopping (I had no idea that so many wives "wanted" train stuff for Christmas!) and after visited a primo layout; -...

Layout wiring

Lehigh Valley John ·
I was wondering if anyone knows of a service or persons in the Northeast Ohio area that can help me wire my DCS layout. The layout is 14x18 feet with a double track mainline and a yard. There are multiple switches. For someone that has a good understanding of wiring, this should not be too difficult. Thanks for the help.

Ditto on the great April 2019 meeting. The Notes are in prep, and will be sent out to all on our contact list shortly. Also- all of the layouts we have visited so far are pretty well developed and in beautiful rooms. I am a Member of the "Brotherhood...
