I'll save Mark the trouble this time. He tells people interested in providing feedback to use the email address guest@menard-inc.com . He does not provide a direct email address. Many have asked. His response is always consistent. Lots of people on this forum have opinions, so while the main reason of using a central email address (so that topics can be forwarded to the right person for a response) has been stated, I suspect another reason is that it also saves one person from being...

Jim R . . . Greentrains' thread ASSUMES that Mark (or his train people) hadn't already read the threads he links--as fast as Mark is to reply to problems with Menard's products reported here that assumption is not warranted. Also, his thread never mentions the possible problem with the power supplies--so how does that help purchasers of these products? If end-users/retail buyers are the concern, start a thread telling them "Don't plug in your Menard's building with Menard's power...

Suggestion: Mark Links with underline

gunrunnerjohn ·
Any chance that you can change it so links are underlined like is standard in the rest of the world? :) I don't know if this is something that Hoopla would have to change or you can do. It's a lot easier to recognize a link in a post if it's underlined. :)

John, what's happening here with this customization and tweaking is interesting. Hoopla wants to charge for theme customization like this. However, as time goes on, more and more other Hoopla users are posting snippets of CSS to the Hoopla support site to accomplish the needed changes. When you posted your question, I went to Hoopla Support, did a search for posts using the words "link underline" and found what I needed. I still cannot find anything that will display an already visited link...

That's a very unfair reply to Greenrail's efforts. He has been very complimentary of Menards' products and customer service in both threads. He merely sees an urgency so that other buildings aren't damaged as his were. Also, I thought his decision to start a new thread made sense, given that the subject lines of the other threads didn't address the power adapter problem. This post brought the central issue to the top of a thread.

I've read the alternatives for power in these posts and understand there are other ways to go, but we all want Menards to be as successful as they have been. This is what I had in mind, especially since they look "railroady" and would fit in anywhere, while a brick and mortar would be lost among all the other layout structures (of course all you scratchbuilders would already have modified something like below, but for us less talented......)

I always associate "diner' with the urban northeast. (I did have breakfast at one near the Ted Maurer auction site some years ago, and I see what I think are some west of York on U.S. 30) On my first trips to central Pa., and then up into New England, I was surprised by the lack of fast food restaurants that I had lived off of in school in the midwest since the middle 1950's. I like the Diner idea. As for incorporating the Menards name into it how about a road side billboard that comes with it. It could live in the back of the parking lot with the logo, MENARDS " The Most Fun Store on the Planet" emblazoned on it.

With my layout nearing completion, I find that i really don't have anymore room for buildings like a diner. Actually I have two diners on the layout already, one an older K-Line diner with lighting, the other one of those telephones that you lifted off part of the roof and that was the phone set. Nice details inside and out. What I'd like to see are more RR related buildings. Factory buildings, warehouses, Railroad service buildings. the sour kraut factory was a real winner. Other small,...

Like to see a diner. I am not sure how Menards can incorporate Menards name into Diner since all the Menards buildings are industrial or agriculture themed, but certainly all those Menards-Ville people have to eat somewhere so why not a dinner?  Maybe styled after those silvery railroad shaped coach diners.

A suggestion for Menards

Harry's Trains ·
Mark the Menards Train Guy, I was wondering if you would be willing to take a suggestion for an addition to your lineup of boxcars. It would be really nice if you were to add a Timken boxcar, just like Lionel made in the postwar days in their 6464 series. It would be a nice addition to your product lineup because it would add some diversity, having some cars that are not lettered for a specific railroad. Just a thought. Thank you for your consideration. Additional support from other forum...

Current OGR issue shows many three dome tankcars, including, I think, a modern GATX. Delete two domes and put Bettendorf trucks on a tank car, and some of your other cars. I am tired of changing out the modern trucks, and the extra expense. Yes, I realize...maybe the market and your sources can't support that extra cost....just a thought. Others on here too have posted that they would buy a fleet of plain-Jane black GATX or UTLX tank cars from the past oil boom.

That's the "Just Plug" lighting system made by Woodland Scenics. As I understand it they really want you to use their LEDs rather than splicing in your own. But if you know what you're doing I suppose you could cut one of their Extension Cables to access the bare wires...or perhaps use a so-called Linker Plug . If your buildings use traditional lamps (not LEDs) you'll need to do some more research as I don't think the light hubs are capable of the higher power of incandescent bulbs. You...

During the Piedmont layout tour here in Atlanta last fall; one of the HO layouts had a small vignette of zombies leaving a graveyard and wandering down a highway. When I asked the layout owner about the figures; he said they were from Micro-Mark. I hadn’t thought about them also being available in O but; you’re absolutely right they would make an interesting addition to a layout! Curt
