Switcher Saturday: 2018-June-23

MNCW ·
Happy Switcher Saturday everyone. I am "pinch-hitting" this week's topic for our friend, Rich Murnane. If this is your first time stumbling upon our topic, I would suggest that this be the creed of all switcher lovers: We are a bunch of humble, switcher-loving, do-gooders who love all things switcher-related. So, if you have a switcher, have a picture of a switcher or smell like a switcher, post your switcher pictures, here! Did I mention how humble we are? If you missed last week's post,...

Leroof: Thank you very much. I really appreciate your kind words. I waiting many years if Atlas, MTH or Lionel build HH660 in O-scale, but no. So my friend John and I build that HH660 with TMCC. I have now two SBR engines Baldwin RF16 Sharknose "Bruce" & Alco HH660 "Anchor" and more SBR engines coming after 2-3 months. Also the first SBR passenger car is coming with some freight cars. Johan

Oh wow this switcher Saturday is rapidly becoming my favorite regular visitation! the prototype photos are really fantastic as the model photos! but I must say that while I like All of the photos and entries my favorite this weekend is at shark bay. Crazy about that grey HH. I had one once when in 2 rail O scale. Is that a Car Works HH660 conversion to three rail? Btw BAR GP7#67, Nice layout, cool switchers!

For BM fans - this one is for you

CSX Al ·
I recently built this turntable up for a customer that was modeling a Boston & Maine turntable for his layout. We changed the deck to have no handrails and to have the cab on the opposite side (Left hand side) than our standard turntable decks just like his prototype photos. We also created a new cab to match the photos of the prototype. So this table is a bit of a combination of our other turntables since it uses our PRR arch but is mounted on top of two I beams, similar to our UP...

Good morning fellow SWSAT friends!! Wonderful photos and information everyone!! I learn LOTS from you guys!! Tom - Thanks for firing up the SWSAT thread this morning! Your Docksider C-16 looks absolutely stunning!! I also love the back story you have created to support the clean B&O lettering. The B&O directive form which confirms your story is fabulous! I LOVE it! Your work is inspiring me to make some improvements on my own C16. As I've been teaching music camp all week, I've had...

Not switcher related, but thought you might like this...I was Googling around and found a recent tour of the Union Pacific Steam Shop in Cheyenne, WY. Some of it is hard to hear due to background shop noises, but still interesting. Tom

Happy SWSat! Thanks for starting us off this week Tom and thanks for the shout out. The "Switchers Creed" is perfect! I have been in contact with Rich and he is alive and well. Rumors of his abduction at the hands of some Class 1 road engineers have been unfounded. That C-16 looks sharp Tom. You weathering looks good. Mine are still nice and shiny and will stay that way for a while. I don't know if I will start weathering mine or not. Leaning toward not at this point. Andy- nice shots of the...

Yay! SWSat is on! Tom knocks one out of the park in the first at bat! Here is some MTA work train action. Look at all the pretty LED lights on the lead unit. These were pulling the cleanest Subway flats I have ever seen. In new MOW Grey with lots of new reflective marks they look like they were newly painted. Here is an Icken boxcab on the NYSME layout. Last up a look into the future. I broke down and stayed up late and won an auction for a two rail C16. It needs some work I can tell...

Display Case, custom built Oak & Glass. Accommodates an A-B-A in "O-Scale" OR?

Waverly 5 Yard ·
In going thru things from our recent move, I realize I do not have a place for this gorgeous display case. I had it made by an Amish Cabinet maker in Pennsylvania when I realized that the Century Club II cases would not accommodate my scale K-28802 A-B-A #5711. * These 3 locomotives total about 54' so you can judge how what you have, would fit. * This is made of Glass, NOT plastic. * Quality track to display one of your favorite sets, with stops at each end. * Pictures are when I had it...

Weaver B&M 2-8-0 2403 On Layout

MELGAR ·
My 10'-by-5' under construction 3-rail layout is supposed to resemble New England and upstate New York, so I mostly run equipment from the New Haven, Boston & Maine, and New York Central railroads. Today, I ran my Weaver die-cast Boston & Maine 2-8-0 steam engine model of #2403 which I bought at least ten years ago and had not run since. The engine sounds came on immediately at power-up but it was reluctant to move. So, I took it off the track and attached test leads to the frame and...

MTH 20-4178 B&O Madison 2-car "diner - combine" passenger set.

MTH 20-4178 B&O Madison 2-car "diner - combine" passenger set. This MTH set was introduced in 2006. These cars were additions to MTH 20-4078 that was also issued in 2006. The MTH "combine" includes a side passenger door with step at one end and a baggage door at the other end. The MTH "diner" has a "kitchen" at one end. Both cars feature diecast sprung trucks and lighted interiors with seated passengers. Photo of a typical prototype railroad "combine" car is shown with side door and step...

The plan for these 2 MTH cars is to remove the interiors and "passengers" and place the cars in a scale model "railroad museum" similar to the the real B&O museum in Balitimore. These are the only model B&O passenger cars that I own. See the photo of a real car #908 at the B&O museum.

Re: Visit to Patrick's Trains in Wheeling

Looks like a very nice engine and Pat's sounds like a great train shop! I wish I wasn't 800+ miles away and about 12 hours drive time (per Google) as I would also like to visit. Maybe a long road trip one of these days. You guys in the East have all the big train stores. I am envious! But, also very happy to have a local train store nearby (about 25-30 min away) I can visit regularly and they just happen to have O gauge/scale as their main stay (along with a little from all the other...

Thank you to all the forum members who have contacted me over the past few weeks regarding the items I am selling. I am helping a family friend sell off part of her late husband's O Gauge collection as she gets ready to downsize and simplify her living situation over the next year. Most of these items are lightly run--some brand new and never run--and have sat in storage in a smoke-free, climate-controlled train room for the past few years. I have some more items, especially for fans of the...
