February Atlas O Announcements - Orders due on SWs today - 2/9/16

MrMuffin'sTrains ·
Atlas O announced the SW diesels again. This time they're offering some road names that are more broadly modeled in hopes that that gets the pre-orders coming in so these will get made. They're also offering 2 road names for most diesels..... In addition, they are announcing 40' Double Door Box Cars and the War Emergency Hoppers including four new road names. As in the past, if you order all four road numbers for one road name in the WE Hoppers, I will rebate you an additional case discount...

It is amazing that they are able to have more SOO LINE 40' box cars to order. I wonder if they can ever get the SOO LINE PS-1 50' box cars produced. Andrew

I know the colors on these preliminary drawings aren't necessarily representative of the final product. Do you have any sense for the paint scheme on the Canadian National? Is it going to be that deep sort of olive green color with the little yellow horizontal band on top, or is it going to be more of a black as shown in the brochure?

Sounds like Atlas is getting enough orders to make all of the SW road names. For us, MKT was the most popular. I was surprised to not get any orders for the Illinois Terminal hoppers.

Lionel Type SW Transformer

Dan Padova ·
First, I would like an opinion or two about the SW transformer. Secondly, using this transformer to run a single train on one throttle and accessories on the other throttle, what about powering O22 switches through the fixed voltage plug ? What would be the ideal binding post to use.

The SW is a pretty good transformer(especially if you are a Star Trek fan!). The C-U posts at 14 volts can be used for the 022 switches. If they need more snap, use B-U. Remember that the lights alone in each pair of 022 switches will use 8-10 watts and that will add up quickly to the SW rated output of 6.5 amps, leaving not much for the train and accessories.

Thanks Rob. I'm trying to decide whether or not to use my KW for the small Xmas layout I built. The space for it is limited and the KW is a bit bulky for it. You may recall me asking about power for the O22 switches in another thread. Also, the 1033 I am currently using seems to be not quite up to the task. There are four O22 switches, one 356 freight station and one 445 switch tower. on the layout. The train I am running consists of a post war #624 C&O NW2 switcher with electronic...
