Spring 2018 OGR Forum York Grandstand Meeting Minutes

MrMuffin'sTrains ·
The spring 2018 OGR Grandstand Meeting was held in the Yellow hall with the handicapped parking signs all piled up – seemed appropriate. The weather was improving – and by Saturday we could eat an Italian sausage with peppers and onions outside on one of the picnic tables. We had a large crowd, and several new attendees, welcome! Ed started the meeting early, like at 1:56pm, probably nervous given all of the hobby dignitaries in attendance. Away we went. Sprinkled throughout the meeting was...

NEW PRODUCT OFFERING!!! Rooftop Billboard Building Signs

Todds Architectural Models ·
We have produced a line of Rooftop Billboard Business Signs (RBBS) as accessories to our warehouse shadowboxes. The idea evolved in order to develop some variety to building naming for extensive shadowbox backdrops. We have produced many of them in 5/8”, ¾” and 1” letter heights. They are nominally ½” deep and are made up of a combination of a sign-specific laser cut frame, laser cut bents, styrene strip and laser cut letters. Each sign letter is also offset slightly from sign frame to...

He has alot of S, doesn't have a store, or website so it is difficult to buy from him, unless you have contacts or first hand knowledge. OGR Forum York Grandstand Meeting Minutes - Fall 2017 Edition......

MrMuffin'sTrains ·
The Fall 2017 OGR Forum Grandstand Meeting was held on a beautiful Fall day. This was probably the prettiest day we have ever had for a Fall York. Finally, we could sit outside in the grandstands, spread out and enjoy the weather. But wait – we are meeting in the dusty Gold Hall last used in the Eisenhower administration, based on the “I Like Ike” bumper stickers on the golf carts. I bet they do – or did. Ed, Jim, Alan and Rich were in attendance. This is probably the largest crowd that I...

Berea Station by Harry Hieke

Var ·
After seeing Harry Hieke's model of the Berea Station at York (I grew up not far from there and am familiar with the prototype), I knew I had to have one. My sweet wife got me the kit for Christmas a little over a year ago (a major enjoyment that I get from the hobby is building things). I finished it up late last year; this is not a beginner's kit, however, Harry created excellent instructions with pictures - he is also gracious on the phone in helping to clarify things. I thought I would...

At the Eastern Division TCA pre-registration for the October York meet, they now print out your ID badge while you wait so you leave prepared for the next York meet – no waiting for the badge to arrive in the mail. Very fast and efficient. Atlas O showed a new water tank tower that will be available later this year. It comes with two water columns or standpipes/spouts. They showed a number of other nice building kits, but I’m not sure which ones are new. They are making upgrades to a number...

We get asked that a lot. We may look into it. We are concentrating on rides with small footprints because we all know real estate is at a premium.

Please do! There are others out there that are very nice, but the prices are steep, A tilt a whirl foot print in O gauge would be about 12"x12" :-)

There are some HO ferris wheels out there that are nice but what puts them over the edge is the lighting kits Look at the Faller Jupiter ferris wheel on You Tube. Its awesome You might try adding one of these as an add-on If so you definitely have a purchase from us.

Cyclone, Comet, Big Dipper, and Scorpion.

Re: CoasterDynamix ferris wheel premiers at York in April

Jack Rimer ·
I have some light samples coming in today. The problem we have is rigging up a custom slip ring or rotating contact on a ferris wheel. For Faller, they sold over 10k kits so designing a custom part was a no brainer. For us to sell a couple hundred is a challenge. So what I've done is ordered some LED samples that use button cell batteries. This way, the batteries rotate with the wheel. Not ideal, but it may be a solution.
