Some of the characters inhabiting my layout
NWL
Some weeks ago I bought this tinplate ETS reefer car. It must be a reefer since it is for meat transport. Special about it is that it is lettered for a large and well known meat processor and slaughterhouse in the Netherlands which existed until 1970. The railroad it is lettered for is the Dutch Staat Spoorwegen (state railway) which merged into the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) in 1917.

Not much new right now. I hope to have some soon and am also working on prepping my train room for a layout. In the meantime, here are some archive pictures.
This is a Lionel 218 dump car I restored. I used a royal blue Rustoleum enamel on this with my airbrush.
This is what I believe to be a completely original Lionel 213 in C8 condition. It was one of the first tinplate cars I bought, and I really overpaid at auction. It came with a certificate that it was part of Richard Kuhn's Car Rail collection.

DITTO on that tunnel!
Hello,
for a while, I have found a Bing coach 62/160 as Southern. Was never in the Bing catalog.
The condition was bad.
After cleaning and removing the rust, the condition was much better.
I think, Bing had never made a matching baggage car, so I have made my own.
A layout was made on computer and laminated on a tin sheet. The tin was from a old solvent canister.
Now it´s finished and looks like a orginal car.
Together with the coach.
Greetings
Arne

WOWSA! That is one beautiful car!
Arne, that is really great. I need to figure out how to do things for myself in this hobby or think about giving it up. Very impressive!
Thats some "Mad Skillz " right there Arne !
Unfortunately I have nothing new this week to show off on this thread
So instead I will off topic and default to something else from the Musee de Fatmane
A lovely little prewar car set from I think either Distler or Tippco, most likely Distler.
Cars are marked "Foreign" below the back window which suggests between wars exported to the UK .
A lovely feature of these is the integrated bumpers which change the cars direction in case of an accident !
I collect several versions of these in my non-train life , Marx , British marx etc
Also I love clockwork track based items such as
Just a selection
Cant be trains all the time hey? ( me ducks!!! )

Arne- very nice! What did you use to cut the tin?
Very nice guys. Always checking in on this. I’m hankering to run some. I might have to do that. Until then, keep em comin!

Great work!
Another question - how did you arrive at the shape and dimensions for the layout? Did you have a disassembled car to work from, or something else?
Thanks.
I had no disasembled car, but I have a few complete cars in this size and have measured the length on them.
