Happy Switcher Saturday Everybody! If you have a preference for little critters over big boys, or yard goats over Mountain class monsters, you found the right place.

On Friday I made my first visit to York since I was about 17.  Let's just say that was a long time ago.  Special thanks to my wife of 16 years for wandering through the isles with me!  We were there from shortly after open until nearly 2, when we had to leave to get kiddos from the school bus.  At that point she was done and I can't blame her!!

Here are a few things I saw at the show.  Now if you follow some of my other posts you will know that I also have a love for tinplate some of the things that really caught my eye were the smaller offerings from ETS, that I finally got to see in person, and the Darstead tank engines.  There were lots of small switchers in the member halls, but there photography is forbidden.  I saw countless postwar diesel switchers, new ps-3 equipped center cab 40 tonners, K-line A-5's ( very tempting), Lots of small to medium size steam switchers, and tons of tinplate, including prewar switchers.

So that's the kick off for the weekend, so now - show us what you got!

As usual, there's a few simple rules for Switcher Saturday:

1.This threads welcome switchers of all sizes and sources, such as 12" to the foot, live steam, HONGZ and of course 3 rail O gauge.  If it's related to switchers (model switchers, prototypes, critters, switching yards, switching layouts) - we want to see it! Videos, Pics, Stories (true or fictional), poems, whatever!

2. If you miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday. If you missed last weekend's post - check it out here.

3. Keep it friendly - we want this to be fun. (we haven't had any real problems with grumpy trolls, I'd like to keep it that way)

4. In regards to compliance with the letter and spirit of the OGR tos, this post is in the photo album section as the subject is switchers and small motive power.  Three rail O is the common medium but anything from prototype through Hongz, grand scales, live steam etc is welcome, as long you took the photo yourself or have permission to post it.  Feel free to post a link to something cool.

Another comparison of small and large engines of the same type and scale: an On30 narrow gauge locomotive and Long Island Railroad H10 #111, both with a 2-8-0 wheel-arrangement and both in 1:48 scale. The undecorated narrow-gauge engine is a Bachmann model and the LIRR H10 is an MTH Premier model with PS2. The H10 was designed and built by the PRR and ran on the LIRR, which was owned by the PRR between 1900 and 1966. The track gauges of the full-sized engines are 30 inches and 56-1/2 inches respectively, which accounts for the difference in their sizes.

Those little 0N30 engines are very nice and they are of good quality. I think in the very near future to buy some bachmann ones, I have a Shay but more would be good, and there is no limit....

I also had an MMI 280 loco, a K36 or 37 model but due to her size maybe it cannot be considered as beeing a switcher, anyway a great quality model.

Well, I didn't go to York but the Postman did stop by today and left an interesting looking box for me. Buffy thought it might be for her.

This was inside and we all know good things come in that kind of box.

It appears I am collecting Atlas O SW8/9s.

So new(ish) (abt 20yrs old in the box?) I haven't even put the handrails on yet. Runs smooth as silk and as slow as a turtle. Looks like it has never been run before. I did have to diagnose (it would stop at the same exact spot on every track switch) a cold solder joint on one pickup wire but it's all good.
