Anyone have an opinion on building kits from American model builders

I sell them but have not built any as yet. They look like great kits. Instructions say paint both sides to avoid warping. I would use an inexpensive enamel spray like Rust-oelum which is much better than using a water based acrylic. Once dry you can use acrylics over it. I would still use bracing for the inside walls so that would mean purchasing some square stock on your own.
Good YouTube videos on building wood structures are those posted by Jason Jenson and ?ASX ASD?. Jenson has a good video on tar paper roofing using construction paper.

I have built four structure kits by American Model Builders – also known as Laserkit. The first six pictures below show my three versions of their “Yard Office” kit. The last picture shows my version of their “Sonny’s Shack” kit. I have found these kits to be of excellent quality and I think that they assemble into good-looking models when completed. The staircase and rafter tails on the “Yard Office” kit are especially nice.

You also rang a bell for me - I did build a Sonny's Shack a while back! Then I found an Ellington's also

I brush-paint everything on my structure models.

1. enamels or acrylics?
2. how do you eliminate the brush strokes form showing because I can't see any!

Joe,
1) Acrylics only - Polly-Scale and craft store brands. I install internal bracing to prevent warping.
2) I find that basswood (clapboard siding) and paper (roof shingles) easily absorb water-based (acrylic) paints and leave no brush marks when light coats are used. They also cover well (without primer) on plastic for brick structures such as Ameritowne kits. I think my buildings might look more realistic if I used spirits-based paints but I prefer not to work with them due to flammability, vapors and cleanup.
