Has anyone received an update for the production of the scale milk reefers ?

Ryan Kunkle from Lionel stated during last years Amherst Railway Society railroad hobby show that they would likely need new tooling cut over in China to make these cars, The prior tooling was tied up by an outside vendor in a dispute and was likely not to be returned. Not exactly word for word what he said but that’s how I understood it.

Well, hope I live long enough, thanks.
That’s about the story I heard......and I think they’re in Rumania.

Old tooing lost for good, NEW tooling is done, expect them to be relisted in the next catalog. If you have open reservations from seems like decades ago. You reservation will be honored, at the price you reserved at.
Information obtained from Ryan at York, last week.

That's better, as I do have reservations from years ago, including deposits put-down.
Thanks.
Yeah, there was a post from Dave some time earlier this year about a few things that got delayed. I can't remember what the main one was of the topic, but the milk cars had been mentioned further down in the post by Dave. Hopefully that will get underway some time next year.

Romania.
**** Romulans!
Is the scale old ones better than the new tooling?
It would be hard to beat the old ones. When the first run was offered(17331, 17332, 17334 and 17335) they were immediately sought out by two rail modelers. The New Haven car was quite close to the prototype. John

And are the 2020 Corvettes better than the 2021 ones?
Point is, since the new cars haven't been produced yet, it's impossible to answer that question!

Well if the 2021 has plastic wheels instead of metal wheels like the 2020. Yes the 2020 version is better.
I'm with Rattler. The previous runs are some of the best rolling stock Lionel has ever produced. Smooth rolling die cast trucks with hidden uncoupling tabs , great detail, and excellent fit and finish.
On top of that . When you can get great deals on these on the secondary market. I wouldn't even consider the new ones if and when they ever get made. Especially with Lionel recent track record of defective re issues of items that were trouble free in previous offerings.
Heres a small sampling.

Hoping the new run is just as well done as the old as the new run offers road names and paint schemes that were not previously offered.

I have always been a fan (and regular practitioner) of “creative spelling”
Last year at York I think one of my big buys was the milk cars of recent times. I kept ordering them out of each catalog too. I can't remember what all the ones are, so I'll have to keep an eye on which ones I can still buy not to get duplicates.

Don't beat yourself up (or allow anyone else to do so). Althougth the official English spelling today is Romania, Rumania is not so much considered incorrect as an archaic variant. The point of changing the u to an o was to emphasize ancient Roman rather than Slavic descent.
What, me worry?
