I found this method on line looking for how to automate these switches and it seems simple enough (middle right).

 

My question: If these switches are automated, do they still require the controller box to be hooked up to the terminal posts? Mine are already all modified to use accessory power. Can I just put the middle post to a grounding bar or do I even need to since the track completes the common circuit?

Thanks in advance guys, this would be super helpful for the reverse loops on the layout I'm planning.

No. The controllers are just wired in parallel.

 You don't need to, but you can, it may make for a neater installation if you use those center posts as connections to the track instead of lockon clip 2.

Screenshot_20200207_094951_com.google.android.apps.docsI'm necro'ing this thread to ask another question. Attached is a diagram of the 1121C control box. It appears to me that the controller is just a large DPST switch. (Ha. Switch for a switch.)

To make a cleaner install, could I just use a small momentary DPST toggle with modern non-crumbly not 80 years old wire?
