Got an MTH Greenbriar with an ERR install.  The original installer is using the tender shell for the antenna and has it isolated from the tender floor/frame with electrical tape.  Problem is the tape is now wearing out and the shell keeps grounding to the frame and blocking the antenna.

I was thinking about using a large piece of brass inside the tender for the antenna and double side sticky taping it to the top of the shell, inside the shell.

Thoughts, opinions, suggestions????

Thanks.

If the shell is all metal it will shield the antenna from the signal. A better alternative if the tender has real or plastic coal is to drill a hole at the front or back of the coal bunker and place a wire up through the shell but under the coal.

If the "coal" is just cast into the shell then your only option is use the tape and nylon screws to isolate the shell from the frame.
