I just picked up a "Fleet of Modernism" Obs car for my South Wind consist. Also included was a passenger painted PRR reefer. Mixed in with my Madison cars, they will look more like a "real" PRR train with non matching cars. (Except why would they have left the "new" obs car in Chicago and run it down to Miami instead of back to NYC?) For the same reason my ACL "Northern" might show up towing the consist around my living room, I guess.

The South Wind was a Chicago to Miami streamlined train running on the Pennsy to Louisville, then L&N, ACL and FEC.
I would like to think this train would normally have had mostly if not all lightweight equipment from the participating railroads in the consist.. When Diesels became the norm, I believe the practice was for locomotives of each of the railroads to run through the entire route Chicago to Florida.. Have seen Photos of Atlantic Coast Line power on this train in Chicago.
Since the Chicago-Floida service was a sort of Seasonal business demand, that Fleet of Modernism Observation might have wound up on a Chicago -New York City train during the warmer months.

Sadly, the Southwind's PRR track, Chicago-Cincinnati, has been removed, perhaps in the 1980's.
