I have 2 sd 45's with different numbers. when I build the lash up both engines start but the lead eng will not move and no horn etc. What do I need to do?

Surprised that no one answered you, Bill.
By two different numbers, I assume that you mean their ID numbers in your DCS are different. If both locos are on the same track, do they respond separately?
Try deleting your lashup. This should reset them. Adjust the sound levels so they are about equal. Note which direction they go when started. Also, run them on the same track, a few inches apart, to make sure they move at the same speed. If their speeds are not very close to equal, don’t lash them together. Now rebuild your lashup just make sure that you observe the direction so both want to go the same way.

If Dan's suggestions work, disregard mine.
Delete both engines and then re-add them to the remote. Have one engine at a time on the track when you do it. Then re-establish your lash-up.
