Atlas 2 rail SW's are pretty much gone right now. Especially since they cancelled the upcoming production. We ordered extra GP-7's in 2 rail (they have DCC installed) just so ppl would have some sort of option, if looking for a 1st gen diesel that isnt too large.

MTH has done quite a few 2 rail diesels, but they are all 2nd gen or newer, and all road engines except for the Gensets. They've done GP-38's and 40's in 2 rail. They are used as switchers a lot these days, but still considered road power by 1960's-70's standards.
I was pretty upset when Atlas said they were going to kick SW production down the road. We had a lot of orders.
Too bad their other products don't share the SW's unique and excellent drive train. Many years ago Atlas endured withering criticism from the 2-rail crowd over its use of the two vertical motor "China Drive." @Beth Marshall-The Public Delivery Track do you know if they ever lowered the gear ratios on their GPs and Fs, and if so, when that happened?
Mike. You see a 2-rail SW come up on e-bay occasionally they always either go quick or at a high price or both. depends how desperate you are.
And Beth, if Atlas hadn't stopped production on their 2-Rail Atlas SW's I would have ordered five or more to late now I have managed to buy the five 2-rail and five more 3-rail for spare parts in the future one brand new one arrived yesterday.
I know it's been said a million times but it's annoying and a hassle for everyone I would rather had supported the hobby shops and dealers. When you could buy these Locomotives by pre order I bought seven (7) from one dealer alone glad I did before the train wreck. Really disappointed with Atlas I just can't help thinking they could have tried harder. Roo.
Thanks guys for the help. So sounds like I will just have to buy them in 3 rail and then convert them to two rail.

I can only speak for an Atlas O Lackawanna GP7 from around 2009. We have it running smoothly at around .8 SMPH or thereabouts. Definitely less than 1 SMPH. It still has its original QSI control.
Sure seems like there are a lot folks hankering for Atlas 2-rail end cab switchers. Like me. Hope to hear an announcement soon.
Thx for the good review of the Atlas GP-7 low speed operation. When Atlas said they were nixing the SW's for now, I was pretty disappointed. I knew there was a lot of demand for 2 rail. Apparently the demand for 3 rail wasnt that high.
But anyway, when I heard, I got atlas to up my order for 2 rail GP-7's. I ordered a bunch of extras. Its not an SW, but better than nothing if u want a 2 rail engine for switching or local service. Have just a very few left avbl for pre-order...NYC, MP, UP, and DRGW.

I have some old Atlas SW 2 rail switchers. At least one (or two?), that are torn apart. They had decoders installed that were fried or still have working TMCC inside.
They are on a shelf of the to do list. I probably won't do anything with them. I had them for sale here on the forum with no interest (almost).
Well, I am embarrassed to say that Neville wanted them shipped to Australia and I felt that would be too tough $$.
Hey Joe, I am looking for a 2 rail NYC SW in case you have one with a blown decoder.
Hey joe I will send you a pm
