I didn't see another OGR Christmas layout thread so if anyone has pictures or video, please post them here.  Attached are some pictures of my O & STD Gauge layout for this year.  Merry Christmas!

Special shout out to @chris a for his tutorials on XPS foam board construction and especially spray foam terrain.

Also thanks @SGMA1 for the USA Track (Standard Gauge) and @gunrunnerjohn for the FasTrack.

EDIT - I totally forgot the tv was on in the background.  I just rewatched this morning with the sound on and can hear the commercials -ugh.  For now if you watch this, please just turn the sound off and enjoy the visual until I can take another video - Cheers, JHZ563

Yeah, it was started after I posted this.  Maybe they should delete mine.

Mike I wouldn't worry about it.  You can't delete it yourself once a thread is replied to anyway.

By the way - that's an amazing display!  Although it is right up there in the "My wife would kill me department!"  I also spy something on your layout that looks bigger on the inside - very nice and always the most interesting Christmas specials.

@Strap Hanger,  this looks great to me!!  Please tell me about the train on your outer loop.  That nyc hopper in particular - can you tell me what number it is our where it came from?  I haven't seen that one before!

This year's layout video is on YouTube, The trains running are towards the end of the video.  We have the Polar Express and the Hallmark Toymaker Express with added cars.  Hope you enjoy.

Love your video, Ed. You're very talented with those Legos.

Btw, what were the extra cars you added to the Hallmark Toymaker Express? Is the lighted one near the end your own creation? Would enjoy seeing a close up picture if it.

Also what is the most cars you've pulled with that set?

Have a great holiday and thanks for sharing your display on YouTube.

Thanks JHZ. I picked it up about 10 years ago out of an MTH Tinplate traditions catalog.  It’s a really nice piece. It even has an operating wheel that lowers the bottom of the hopper when turned. I don’t know the item # and the box is buried somewhere under my main layout.

No hurry,  but whenever you get around to it I would love to know the number.   I am on a foolish quest to collect one of each of the 816/2816 that mth has made.  Assuming your outer loop is O gauge.  That color scheme is one I hadn't identified. If its standard gauge than that's a different story

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all.

The UnNamed line has finished the Christmas freight runs and has started Passenger Service. Train consists of a S.F 2353 A Locomotive, S.F. 2243 B , S.F. 2353 A, S.F. 9541 Baggage car, Penn. 9570 Baggage car, Penn 9570 Passenger car.

Everyone have a pleasant Christmas and holiday season.

@Strap Hanger  I looked for an email for you but didn't see one listed.  Sorry to be a pest.  If you look under the layout I would still love to know the number for that nyc 2816 hopper. Thanks - JHZ563

Sorry, JHZ, I hadn’t had a chance to dig for the box. However, I‘m certain it’s this one - https://www.mthtrains.com/10-8023

Hey - thanks a bunch!  I had identified that number as one of the few I am missing,  but the catalog image is brown.   Since yours is bright red I thought it was one I hadn't discovered yet!  It's not the first one that doesn't match the catalog photo,  and now I know what I am really looking for.

Thanks again,

I took these stills on Christmas Eve, while waiting for my brothers and their families to come to the house.  I went simple this year, so that as many people as possible could sit in the room.  My trusty 4x4 layout of O27 track came in handy for this, along with some Plasticville, K-Line and a Lionel piece or two.

When I bought the Lionel 2037 set, I was told that it was a department store special. Part of the shipping slip (or layaway) is there, but no mention of which store it came from.  The train runs like a dream.

No problem JHZ.  The video makes it look a little “redder” than it is. I think it’s picking up the reflection from my floors or the red Christmas lights on the tree.  I would say it’s more of a brownish red.  Not as brown as that catalog pic, but certainly not bright red. Good luck on your search. That’s going to be a sweet collection if you can get all of them.
