Hi all; I bought a lightly used 4291 from a gentleman here on the forum about last June, and finally getting a chance to run it. It's a 2014 or so product, and cosmetically it is in fine shape and all features seem to work fine. It runs very nicely in forward, but has an issue in reverse. It won't make a full rev of the drivers before it locks up solid and won't move.

It acts like the rear power truck is the culprit, though I can't see anything exterior that is binding with the side rods etc. Anybody have a similar issue with this engine and have any ideas for a fix? I have not torn it apart yet; wanted to check with others first.

Thanks for any help, Rod

Kind of what I am thinking Alex. Thanks. I guess the rear truck will be coming off next for further inspection. I wonder if the shell has to come off to remove the truck? Guess that will be the next adventure!

Rod ,

First release the front drive wheels from the driveshaft and see if it's coming from there. You  can also run the engine without the front drive section attached, just move slow. This will narrow down where it's coming from

Thanks Alex, I will try that. On this engine, being a cabforward, the front drive wheels are fixed rigid to the frame, and the rear drive wheel truck is pivoted. I am thinking you mean I should release the rear pivoting drive wheel truck? I can watch low from the side as it's moving and see the rotating driveshaft angling down to the rear drive wheels.

On close inspection I found a spot where some of the "piping" that runs close to the side rods on the rear drivers looked slightly bent such that it was contacting the side rod bolt. A slight bend was all it took to alleviate the tight spot, and all is well now. Everything works perfectly!

Thanks to all who offered help to get this fixed. Much appreciated!
