Larry, Just for info the switch assembly has 2 led for red and 2 for green. unlikely both failed. Sending it to a auth dealer will cost more than a new one. I can buy the circuit board from Lionel if I knew for sure it has failed. Just checking to see if anybody has had this problem and I am in the right area before I order parts. Thanks for the reply   Roy O

The simple way to troubleshoot is to substitute another (working) remote controller and see if both colors work.

The yellow wire from the track switch is either +5VDC or -5VDC with-respect-to-ground (the black wire) and there are diodes in front of the green and red LEDs in the controller such that + lights one pair of LEDs and - lights the other color LEDs. Thus, either the diode in front of the red LED has failed or the board in the track switch has failed.

I checked voltage in the controller at yellow to ground (black wire)  The green light position reads 5V DC  red position 1.5V DC,  guess that says it all.  I think when I looked the board is no longer available.   It still operates so I guess I will leave it alone.  Roy O      Saved me from purchase of control board I do not need.
