Sounds like everyone had a nice day!

Bob, nice cars for your beep! When are you going to start to weather them! LOL Just kidding, you might be able to send them out to Johan!

Mark, its all good, I just cant recall if I ever seen photos of your celling RR!

I didn't get any train stuff done today as the day was filled with doctor appointments for both the wife and I. But I did go tubbing and got some tubes put in my ears so now they should equalize like they are spose too!

After all the doc visits the wife and I went to lunch and while eating out of the blue she said we should get a new BBQ for the up coming summer! WOW I thought where did that come from, I was all ready to fix the old one, but who am I to question such a great idea! LOL So I spent the last hour putting our new BBQ together!

Tomorrow is one day closer to hump day so I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

I’ve posted some a while back.  I’ll try to get some up in a day or two.  Tomorrow after work I have a meeting for Social Security advice, and Wednesday we have to see the lawyer about getting new wills.  The current ones have my sister and her husband take custody of our minor daughters if we die.  Since both girls are in their late 20’s we need to specify them as Power of Attorney for us and some other things!  😄

Bob: Great news🤝. I own also about 10 pieces, those older Lionel BAR State of  Maine cars.

Thanks Johan. I have a few in HO but I don't run any of that stuff these days. I always liked the colors on them.

Now weathering is a whole different story. One day I will dip my toes in the water but for now they will stay "factory fresh".

   CHEERS !

LOL Brian, you sure cant beat that! Love the pictures of the great northern trains!

Lee, your photos keep getting better. That black and white photo looks real.

Elliot, sounds like the open house turned out pretty good. As people who see the layout talk about it more will come to see it each time.

Mike g, sorry no layout time. I was in the same boat.

Johan, your weathering techniques are fantastic. I am looking at the ladder area and that paint looks like it is actually peeling. Well done. The car itself intrigues me. Especially the road name MMA. Where did you come across that car or did your add the decals yourself.

Mark, hope you are getting aorund better.

Today I finally got to the layout for a bit. Hard to believe doing laundry is higher on my list of things I like to do then wiring. But wiring is what I worked on today. I got the terminal blocks wired up to the control panel so tomorrow I can start to wire all the tracks where I just put in the sidings. Yesterday I got a partial package from Scenic Express. I decided to try some new Martin Welberg products. A couple are on backorder. Pricey but worth it to me. A wrap for me today. Tonight it Tuesday night crew again. Three more weeks after tonight and iot is over with till the fall. Pics.............Paul 2

Paul. Thank you very much. That MMA car is a MTH Railking products and i buy that about ten years ago. I like try some different weathering techniques, because always can learn a something new.

Johan

Paul, I am getting by.  I have to get used to the lowest lower back ache and not sit in one place very long!  I’m going to get over to Ohio soon.  I have my ticket for the Ligonier Valley RR layout tour next Saturday.  The nearest layout is an hour southeast of me, so I will see how I do in the car.

It seems like The Tuesday Night Group just started up for the fall!

With three out of four curves installed, (I'm never going to get this thing done), I added the Styrofoam to all four shelves and yes, three of the four curves.  This allowed me to add track to a point.  I discovered I need two 4 1/2 inch fastrack pieces to complete a run, so I couldn't fully complete the oval even if I did have the elusive fourth curve installed.  It's a hole lineup issue that Hunter is going to elongate the holes...…..again.

I decided to test the track to see if it gets power from the TIU, and it does, but not near enough to run the conventional Burger King locomotive I am using.  It's and old Lionel GP 20, I think, box tells me I guess I should read it.  Part of a restaurant train Lionel designed.  I have the Wendy's caboose too.  Loco gets power but mainly just sits and ratchets like all the old conventional locomotives.  You know the sound, a sort of buzzing, grinding noise before it takes off and the buzzing evens out?  Anyway, it moves back and forth but it's having issues.

I'm guessing it's a combination of one track piece on a long oval being attached to power, maybe the missing track is hampering power distribution, and DCS is having its usual difficulty, this time in variable mode, talking to the track since it's way under powered at the moment.  But, I have a solution I just can't implement it.  No fourth curve.  If I were better at lining up holes, I'd be done now and you would have pictures.  I'm not, so you don't.

Day 410.

John R. Nice little video. I would guess you and mom went for ribs! LOL YOU know mom is always right!

Paul 2, A little is better then none. One step closer to getting that area done! Hope the new product works out well for you!

LEE D. Congrats! I can tell your one proud dad! You and your wife have done a nice job and now you have an another adult in the house!

Vincent, the nice things about Lego's is you can almost make them anything you want too! Sorry your not happy with it, maybe it will grow on you!

Well today is HUMPDAY! Only 2 more days after today for the weekend and it sure looks like its going to be a nice one around here! I hope everyone has a great day!

Mark. Thanks I hate to see her Graduate but she is still going to stay home and go to college for a couple years she wants to be a School Teacher

Larry. Thanks for the complement and Glad you like my trains

Mike. Thanks she is great young lady we a blessed to have her she has never gave us any trouble it’s very hard to raise a child these days I’m glad she listened to us.

I saw a real train TOFC with a flat bed trailer and thought "I can do that. I've got a flatbed trailer around here somewhere". Initially it was just the trailer but I thought it looked too bare so I added some merchandise on pallet loads.

Yardmaster, PLEASE post a picture of that Burger King locomotive!

Vince, I have the entire set. It consisted of the Burger King engine, the Wendy's caboose. and six "fast food" billboard reefers, though some of the companies represented, were not really fast food.

  • Pizza Hut
  • Taco Bell
  • KFC
  • Red Lobster
  • Arthur Treachers (fish & chips)
  • Bonanza (steak house)

I believe the last two companies are now defunct. I just grabbed these pix off the net. Interestingly, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC, were part of Pepsi at the time, so they only needed one licensing agreement for all three. Pepsi later spun them off into a stand alone company called YUM Brands. YUM is their stock symbol.

If memory serves, the set was released over a two year period, with the engine, caboose and three cars coming out in 1982(?), then the other three cars the following year. Even though it was called the "Fast food freight set", it had no set box, and all pieces were sold separately. It wasn't a great seller, which is probably why Lionel dropped it after only two years. People wondered there wasn't a McDonalds car, I suspect that Lionel couldn't strike a licensing agreement with them.

I also heard that people were buying the engine and repainting it at the time.

I will be glad to post a pic of the locomotive, but the one you posted is exactly the one I have.  I have the caboose, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Red Lobster.  Bonanza is out of business, but Ponderosa is still going, at least in Madison IN.  Funny, one name based around the TV show went out of business and the other is still going.  Bonanza was the name of the show and the Ponderosa was the name of the Ranch.  Loco responds to the remote but  seems confused.

Folks, it's been a hectic two days here in a heat wave in Mexico. Yesterday I finished building a Lego passenger train that runs well, but I still don't like it.

I was planning to start a new project today: Take an old computer case and turn it into a building full of people. First, it takes up no space, because the top of the case regains the space you lost. Then you use shelves, boxes, equipment, whatever is inside the case, etc., as building space. Super Glue helps make use of the sides.

But then a train enthusiast at the American Legion gave me eight HO buildings today!

And finally, I found this structure in the trash while walking my dog--no one was looking, so I grabbed it.

Thanks Bob, Mike, Ray, Paul and Mark for the nice comments on the open house post. Thanks to all who liked that post, I think that was a new personal best. My only regret was that you couldn't all have been here in person. You would have more than doubled the attendance.

I meant to do this earlier today, but I fell asleep at dialysis after the fast food post.

It looks like my son will be moving back here by the end of June, along with one of his roommates. We know this because the third roommate, just signed a new lease on a different place, with his girlfriend, and the boys can't cover his share of the rent. Fortunately, there's room here at the house for both of them until they can find jobs and get their own place.

BTW, the fast food train was a big hit at enterTRAINment.

Mike thanks both of our girl are turning out great. That is my HO layout and the dozer is a Military one ready to be loaded

I created two Penn Central coal hoppers from existing MTH H21 style 4 bay hoppers. MTH sells these in every railroad & paint scheme (whether the real RR had H21 hoppers or not) so I have a few of them. I looked around for a) hoppers that were already black, b) not part of any set. "Re-Paint" consisted of effectively covering up the prior RR colors. Then the PC decals and I also renumbered them into a PC hopper range. One thing about my recent quest for PC equipment - it has forced me to become more proficient at painting/decaling and showed me that I can do this and have just about anything I want - as long as somebody makes the decals. Also, I feel like I've got two new freight cars with no additional purchase and without increasing the size of my model train inventory.

Lee- I like the new additions. I know I've not been paying close attention lately but I do know  the difference between three and two rail track when I see it.  What's up? Did I miss something? Did you go over to the Dark Side and switch to HO?
