I recently purchased a Lionel 282 gantry crane and it works fine except, when lifting in the "up" direction, the clutch appears to slip causing a loud clicking sound. I have attached videos of the problem. I did clean around the clutch to make sure that it wasn't too slippery, but it still slips. Any suggestions? It has also always "hesitated" as you can hear in the video even when the clutch doesn't slip like a car changing gears if that is a good analogy. I am afraid that the clutch may damage the other nylon gear if this continues.

Watching the video it happens once a revolution of the winch shaft, at the same spot! Burr on the nylon gear? Bent winch shaft? Worn bearing allowing the nylon gear to spraddle away from the mating worm? The "bearing" is actually a shoulder on the underside of the nylon gear that fits into a counterbore in the cast base plate.

There is definitely something going on there. You can see the winch shaft move away from the worm/clutch shaft.
