I own this 1938 Bronze Streamliner 1689E.
The place where one of the side rod screws attaches to the wheel has sheared off - see left side of photo below. I was able to source another geared drive wheel. However I discovered that the replacement wheel has 8 spokes rather than 12 plus no opposing weight. They are also different on the back, but this won’t be seen.
What would you do? Would you fit the 8-spoked wheel and not worry about the difference or hold out and try to find a 12-spoked wheel as a spare part? I guess it won’t be obvious in motion.
Any suggestions for sourcing the part would be gratefully received. Thanks.
. Ask them to drill out the sheared off screw. Actually if they have a EDM drill or spark eroder that might be the better method to use. Then re-tap the thread or if needed use a helicoil insert.
