Some of you have been following the club's progress with the new Fastrack layout. Our local toy store invited us to set up this weekend and next and also for a 1pm showing to an 'adult special needs group' this Thursday. We got over there today just after noon and had the 8 tables unloaded, carried in, and snapped together in about 20 minutes which really amazed us! There were a few minor glitches for this first time but we had trains running in 30 minutes after arriving curbside!

Here are a few shots of today's showing.

Again, a GREAT BIG 'Thank you' to Forum members Lee Willis and Rick (Ricomon) Wells for their generosity in donating the track!

Looks really good and the Snow Village Ford Dealership is a real eye catcher. I have this piece also but it has not made it to my layout yet.

It's amazing that you where able to get it all together in a half hour, I'm really impressed.

Well, you guys have a neat club with a great looking layout, I wish you all the good luck in the world with it.

Sam, Looking good as always! On a quick note: I visited Dess yesterday and we hung out at the TF museum and the shop. Dess thinks the world of your new "young " member. He said he's never met a kid with so much to offer. Drop me a line, I'm still looking forward to coming up and seeing all of you and I'm sure Dess will come with me.

Actually, we don't have any roads and driveways yet. The parking lot at the Ford Dealership is two pieces of black construction paper!  This was put together on the fly yesterday.

I'll have to ask about the pool as it belongs to newest member Jerry Beavers of Asheville. It almost looks like it has a layer of ice on the surface. People keep poking their finger into it!

Thomas - I just sent you an email about Josh. You and Dess are most welcome anytime!

Sam;

Looking good!

30 minutes to get trains running must be some kind of a record.

Our show layout usually takes 4-5 hours to get trains running, then another hour or more of debugging!

Mind you, it's 13' wide x 45' long, with modules made by 4 different people, using tubular O gauge, FasTrack, and Atlas track, all on different modules.

Very nice work, and good luck!

Looks great.  Might try it while we are working on the inital layout.

Thanks!

I've asked new member Jerry to post here and tell about this nice corner diorama he brought. The pool looks great and hopefully he can answer your questions.

The roads on the detachable panels themselves are just black paint. We are considering whether to actually paint the tables or to leave them 'bland' which seems to blend in with the Fastrack nicely.

Yesterday we opened the layout to a group of "Special needs adults" from a local Senior facility. They numbered about 15-16 and you should have seen their faces! (I should have brought my camera ). Several let out squeals of joy, clapping their hands and jumping around!

One fella kept motioning to me with his finger to show me something he really liked in a diorama and even asked to hold a NYC Heavyweight car. I was able to politely decline but I held it up close to him and showed him the people inside which seemed to placate him just fine.

In 15 minutes they were gone. It was definitely worth it however and Harold and I stuck around to paint the area inside of the tracks green. Hopefully, it will be dry today for our weekend showing. I'll post photos tonight of the changes.
