These arrived yesterday...

Midgage cars...

...in their original boxes and with all the additional details and instruction sheets included. 

Lightly embossed card stock sides, with printed door detail. It looks to me like the sides extend down lower than (I think) they should on the ATSF example: note where the bottom of the doors are on this car compared to the NYC car. Is this by design, or did the original builder fail to trim a little off the top edge? 

The trucks are interesting: metal side frames with plastic(?) bolsters; brass wheels, also insulated with thick "plastic" (it may be bakelite?) axles. The couplers remind me of the cast metal types that used to be included in the old metal Athearn HO scale cars.

More S scale history.
