I've got one of the subject cabooses and was wondering if anyone can tell me if both the front and rear high-mount lights should light up? The rear light is red and flashes. The front light appears to be the same style and location but does not light up. Is this the way it's supposed to work? Thanks.

I have the same caboose. I believe the front light is non functional.

Upon further examination there is a switch on the underside of the caboose. Depending on which direction you want the caboose to travel you can change which light works by throwing the switch. Both lights are functional but not at the same time.
Both should not be functioning at the same time. The rear light would be the only one flashing. The front would just flash at the car in front of it, if it were on.
I have the P&LE caboose from the Ariquippa Turn set and only 1 end lights. I found that strange too.
